We need your help!

We are seeking dedicated, trustworthy, dependable community volunteers to helps us organize, sort, and manage our clothing and other goods donations at Rachael’s Closet. We feel it is important that every item and service we offer be the best it can be because the children and families that we support shouldn’t feel like they’re second best.   You can help us meet this high standard by volunteering as a Services Coordinator.

What’s involved?

Volunteers can be expected to:

  • Evaluate and Sort Clothing
  • Prepare Care bags of goods and clothing that are to be provided to children and families
  • Help children and families that come into Rachael’s Closet find the items that they need
  • Aid in the receipt of goods and donations
  • Interact with children and families who may have experienced (or are currently experiencing) trauma

Some light cleaning and “house keeping” duties might come up every now and then but that is not a primary expectation.

Special Volunteer Requirements:

Beyond the activities outlined above, we do have some very special traits we are looking for in our volunteers because you will we be supporting and directly working with children who are in court-ordered, out of home placement (foster care) – many of whom have experienced trauma or have special medical needs.  To volunteer for this position you will need to:

  • Be Reliable

This is a unique volunteer position within our organization.  Volunteers will/may be required to pass a background check/live-scan screening and/or a review of the child welfare index.  Any individual who has been arrested or convicted of a felony, misdemeanor, or a crime against a child is not eligible.  If you are a licensed or certified care provider (foster parent, kinship care provider, etc…) you must in good standing and be free of any open allegations or complaints.

Finally, volunteers in this position may be required to enter into a confidentiality agreement to aid in the protection of our clients, the families that we serve, as well as our donors and supporters.

How long will this take?

Ideally we are looking for volunteers who can commit to dedicating 4-16 hours per week on a to-be-determined fix schedule.  Child care is not provided for volunteers and we do ask that you plan accordingly.

What do I need to provide?

You will need to provide your own transportation to/from our office and be prepared to have you life changed by helping children and families who need it so much.
