What-makes-a-great-event-organizerWe need your help!

Are you the Queen Bee or King Tuna of your social circle?  Do you instinctively have the knack for pulling together fabulous events and parties?   We recognize that planning a successful and memorable event is a work of art that takes true talent, a ton of natural organizational abilities and an awesome vision. Well, if this is you, we have just the volunteer opportunity to help you showoff your skills!  We are seeking a trustworthy and dependable event organizer to take the lead and change the image of our interactions with the community, our members, and our donors?

What’s involved?

This is a chairmanship level position within our organization that will report directly to our Executive Board and the Board of Directors.  It will take a dedicated person with passion, experience and the time necessary to plan, organize, and execute a variety of small events as well as one or two large events per year.  You will be our leader in this domain and we will work with you to build an army of volunteers and interested community members to help you accomplish your goals.  Specific activities include:

  • Scheduling planning and organizing events that range in size and scope from small meetings and training events to large non-profit fundraising events.
  • Identifying and seeking out food, beverage, and facility providers to make our events the best of the best.
  • Developing event themes and activities that will help our events be successful as well as aid in community involvement and donations.

This is a great opportunity to give back if you are a professional event organizer or marketing agency and want to give back to your community in a meaningful way.

Special Volunteer Requirements:

Beyond the sample of activities outlined above, we do have some very special traits we are looking for in our volunteers because you will we be supporting and directly interacting with children who are in court-ordered, out of home placement (foster care) – many of whom have experienced trauma or have special medical needs.  To volunteer for this position you will need to:

  • Be Patient
  • Be Calm
  • Be Understanding
  • Be Discrete
  • Be Supportive
  • Be Reliable

This is a unique volunteer position within our organization.  Volunteers will/may be required to pass a background check/live-scan screening and/or a review of the child welfare index.  Any individual who has been arrested or convicted of a felony, misdemeanor, or a crime against a child is not eligible.  If you are a licensed or certified care provider (foster parent, kinship care provider, etc…) you must in good standing and be free of any open allegations or complaints.

Finally, volunteers in this position may be required to enter into a confidentiality agreement to aid in the protection of our clients, the families that we serve, as well as our donors and supporters.

How long will this take?

Ideally we are looking for volunteers who can commit to dedicating the necessary time to support 1-2 small training events and meetings per month and at least two large fundraisers each year.

What do I need to provide?

You will need to provide your own transportation to/from our office and be prepared to have you life changed by helping children and families who need it so much.
